Renn Faire 09!

busby1013Saturday night, I was lucky enough to go with Connie and Georgie to see The King & I at Stage West. George’s mom was directing and George’s dad was acting, so we used to opportunity for Connie’s mom to meet George’s parents for the first time. It was a really fun production and the sets and costumes were really colorful. So many adorable little kids! We had a very lovely evening and it was too awesome to see my loves again so soon after our little meeting at MegaCon.
Yesterday, the family trip to the Renn Faire in Tampa served its purpose: fulfilling my annual desire for some Irishness, i.e. dressing in a ridiculous green costume and imbibing a little past my official limit. I wasn’t driving(the first weekend in a while where I wasn’t driving ANYWHERE), so no biggie.
Again, I noticed a near complete lack of faeries at this gathering. Coz Jackie and I were celebrities! We had our pictures taken by people that weren’t my dad, and even the cast members thought we might’ve been one of them. Queen Titania blessed us as her children and the talking trees welcomed our company. We had a couple dads schlepping their four-year-olds in little wagons asking us to tell their princess daughters that we were Tinkerbell and her best faery friend. It was just as adorable as it sounds.
The green beer and mead was flowing, and the as the sun peeked out from the clouds, the mind got as balmy as the weather, but it was wonderfully care-free as it always is at these things. My cousin was absolutely enthralled by the experience. All the people were great and we gamely played along together with the odd “Good Morrow” and “Hi, Ho faeries!”
We spotted(and got footage of) Randy Constan dancing a jig by the pub, we got Jackie a proper circlet of flowers for her hair, I got earrings and a new hand-made glazed mug, we ate turkey legs and fish & chips and of course the King’s Nuts. Our feet were authentically Medieval(read: filthy), our snot turned to dark matter, and we had a bonafide grand ol’ time. Another successful March weekend!
